EDSON, — A man charged in the deaths of an Alberta couple has had his court date put over.

Travis Vader appeared in court today in Edson on charges of first-degree murder.

He has retained Edmonton lawyer Peter Royal to represent him.

Lyle and Marie McCann, who were in their 70s, were last seen fuelling up their motorhome in St. Albert, Alta., for a trip to British Columbia in July 2010.

Their motorhome was found burned just east of Edson a few days later, prompting a search for the couple who have never been found.

Vader, who is 40, is expected to appear via closed circuit TV from Edmonton when he next makes a court appearance in Edson on June 5.
