A preliminary hearing is set for next fall for two Red Deer men arrested by a suspicious Mountie on July 26.

A member of the Innisfail RCMP detachment became suspicious when he saw two pickup trucks stopped at the side of a road near Penhold at about 6 a.m.

The two men at the scene were in the midst of hooking up a trailer that had a skid steer mounted on its deck.

Police allege that the trailer and the skid steer had been reported stolen from a work site near Bowden.

Curtis Troy Sear, 39, and Sean Davis Olsen, 38, were charged with offences including possession of stolen property and possession of cocaine.

Sear is serving a sentence on separate charges. Olsen was released shortly after the July 26 charges were laid.

Both men are to return to court on Sept. 12, 2014, for a preliminary hearing. Such hearings are be held to determine the strength of the Crown’s case against the accused.
