Crime prevention centre formed

Three safety and prevention organizations have come together to offer a new Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre.

Three safety and prevention organizations have come together to offer a new Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre.

The organizations — Red Deer Neighbourhood Watch, Red Deer City Citizen’s On Patrol and Central Alberta Crime Stoppers — are proud to announce the grand opening of the centre on Tuesday at 108, 4711 51st Ave.

“The three crime prevention groups are coming together and we are wanting to build a one-stop-shop for people and this is kind of our first step in doing that,” said Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre spokesperson TerryLee Ropchan.

“So if they are interested in what they can do in their neighbourhood, how they can contribute with crime prevention, we want them to start thinking about coming to the centre. We are going to have a place for people to come to and ask questions and get information.”

The grand opening will begin at 11 a.m. with a statement from Ropchan at 11:15 a.m. and ribbon cutting at 11:20 a.m. The event will conclude at 2 p.m.
