CHESTERMERE — The Crown has withdrawn charges against a southern Alberta man who had been accused of dragging one of his two dogs behind his all-terrain vehicle.

Tom Bilski had been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to animals.

In late March, someone called the RCMP saying Bilski was dragging one of his dogs behind his ATV while ramming the other dog with the machine.

Bilski had argued that the whole thing was a misunderstanding because he was simply trying to get the dogs away from some coyotes.

Police seized the animals, which were returned to Bilski last month after he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Bilski’s wife, Monika, says the case has left the couple frustrated with the justice system
