CALGARY — Calgary is getting a special, new ambulance to transport its tiniest patients.
The neonatal intensive care unit vehicle will be able to transport two children at a time between hospitals. The old ambulance used for infants only had enough space for one incubator.
The new ambulance will also be able to carry four health-care workers, as well as onboard generators to keep medical gear working in case the vehicle breaks down.
Alberta Health says it spent two years designing the ambulance. The $250,000 cost includes supplies and equipment.
