Dallas leads delegation to petroleum congress

Red Deer South MLA Cal Dallas will lead Canada’s delegation to the World Petroleum Congress in Doha, Qatar next week.

Recently appointed Minister of Intergovernmentl, International and Aboriginal Relations, the former executive director of the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce will lead a delegation representing about Canadian businesses who will be competing for investors in the petroleum industry.

“We’ll be talking to other jurisdictions, to businesses, talking about educational opportunities, transfer opportunities — a wide range of subjects focused around the energy industry and our role as a global energy producer.”

His duties will include delivery of the keynote address at the Canadian Ministerial session to discuss Alberta’s position as a resourceful, responsible and stable place to invest.

Dallas said he hopes to address questions about key issues, including oilsands development and the Keystone and Gateway pipeline projects.

“Obviously, we’re very proud of the work we’re doing in Alberta. We’re a responsible producer of energy and I’d be more than delighted to have that discussion.”

The conference runs Dec. 4 through 8.
