Death threats received: zoo owner

EDMONTON — The owner of a private zoo in Alberta says he’s received death threats after pictures of animals at the facility — including a goat with its face nearly covered in blood — were posted on a Facebook page.

Lynn Gustafson of GuZoo in Three Hills says everyone is entitled to their opinion, but worries some people have gone too far.

He says people have told him on the phone that he should be shot, run over, punched in the throat and fed to the tigers.

A social media campaign against his farm went viral this week with some alleging animals were in distress.

Both the SPCA and the Alberta Government has since launched a comprehensive review of the animal farm.

A decision on whether the province will renew GuZoo’s permit is expected within the next week.

Gustafson has been in charge of the zoo for more than 20 years and says he’ll take the criticism along with any changes that need to be made.
