Delete digital footprint when you sell a vehicle

I was recently relieved of my possession of my new truck, and my theory as to how the criminals got into my garage might be worthy of a public warning.

I was recently relieved of my possession of my new truck, and my theory as to how the criminals got into my garage might be worthy of a public warning.

You see, I traded in a vehicle a few months ago that was equipped with touch-screen NAV and buttons in the overhead that you can program to your garage door remote.

See where I’m going with this?

It’s a very plausible theory that someone is driving around in my old truck with my home address still in the GPS hard drive and the ability to open my garage at will!

Not to mention Bluetooth pairing info, phone numbers, etc., which can all be downloaded to the vehicle these days.

It’s not just about emptying out your physical contents anymore. Beware to delete your digital info, too!
