EDMONTON — A family doctor in Edmonton has been fined for unprofessional conduct and can no longer treat patients in Alberta.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta imposed the penalties on Dr. Norman Goldstuck.

The College says Goldstuck closed his medical practice without telling his patients or staff, abandoned medical records and left drugs, needles and prescription forms in his office.

Officials say Goldstuck no longer lives in Canada, and gave no reason why he left.

He now owes more than $55,000 in fines and other charges to cover the cost of the investigation and hearing into his conduct.

The College says it is managing Goldstuck’s files, which are being sent to other physicians who are now treating his patients.
