Dogs die from strychnine

RCMP in eastern Alberta say four dogs have died or been sickened by strychnine, but it’s not known whether they were intentionally targeted.

KITSCOTY — RCMP in eastern Alberta say four dogs have died or been sickened by strychnine, but it’s not known whether they were intentionally targeted.

Const. Luke Baranieski says deer carcasses laced with the deadly poison have been found in the area around Kitscoty. He says some people in the area have used the method to kill coyotes. He says that could be allowed if signs were put up warning people about the strychnine.

Baranieski says he’s asking for information about who is poisoning the deer carcasses and why.
