Don’t profit from family’s grief

Canadians are proud of Master Cpl. Byron Greff of Lacombe who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Canadians are proud of Master Cpl. Byron Greff of Lacombe who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Instead of letting him rest in peace and thanking him for his life, we are using his family to sell newspapers.

The love of his life and his most precious children were splashed over the newspaper in their time of such sorrow.

They have lost the life they knew, all their dreams and security and will now have to rebuild their lives.

Instead of letting them grieve in peace with loved ones to help them rebuild, they are put on the front page of the Red Deer Advocate.

Do you have any sense of decency?

Every time I looked at the front page of the Nov. 8 paper, I was thoroughly disgusted.

How you can use Lindsay and her newborn daughter Brielle, along with her son Kellar, on the following page is beyond my belief.

They are a family trying to cope with the loss of their husband/father.

Instead of helping them, you are using them.

Leave them and all people mourning the loss of their loved ones alone.

This is not the first time you have intruded on a family in their greatest time of sorrow but I do hope it is the last.

By all means cover the story. It was wonderful to hear that about 1,300 people honoured Master Cpl. Byron Greff and his family by attending his memorial service. But don’t exploit his loved ones to do it.
