Downtown stabbing probed

Red Deer City RCMP are investigating a stabbing at the Tequlia Night Club that left a 25-year-old man in serious condition at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre early Sunday morning.

Red Deer City RCMP are investigating a stabbing at the Tequlia Night Club that left a 25-year-old man in serious condition at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre early Sunday morning.

Red Deer City RCMP responded to a complaint around 2:14 a.m. at the nightclub on 48th Street in downtown Red Deer.

RCMP say the victim was with two other men standing at a table near the dance floor. Another group of men were not far away when a dispute resulted in the victim being stabbed in the torso. The victim and his friends left the bar and went to the hospital.

The victim’s injuries are serious and required surgery. He remains in the intensive care unit at Red Deer hospital.

The suspect is believed to be a “regular” at the Tequila Night Club with the possible first name of James, and is described as an adult male with dark skin. He is approximately 1.83 metre (six feet) tall, approximately 113 kg (250 pounds) and has a goatee. He was wearing a grey sweater, a black T-shirt and black hat.
