Dr. Cooper: a true family doctor

They don’t make them like that man anymore. Dr. Bob Cooper was as reliable as the prairie roots that he sprang from.

My mother was a patient for more than 20 years. I think they recognized the prairie spirit in each other; he was our family doctor in the truest sense of the word. My youngest brother was also his patient and he made house calls for both my brother and my mother. He was not only there for medical reasons but also as an advocate counsellor for my mother.

When I moved to Red Deer in 1991, he became my family doctor as well. He always told it like it was. On behalf of my family, I wish him an enjoyable retirement.
