Red Deer RCMP have charged a driver in connection with a hit-and-run that left a skateboarder in hospital on Oct. 3.
At around 10 p.m. police were called out to a collision involving a pedestrian on 49th Avenue and 51st Street in Red Deer.
It is alleged that a pedestrian traveling westbound crossed the street against the light and was struck by a northbound vehicle.
The 19-year-old local skateboarder sustained a fractured skull, collapsed lung, bruised heart and multiple broken bones. He remains in hospital.
Thanks to information received from a concerned citizen on Oct. 6, police tracked down the suspect vehicle which had a considerable amount of damage. The driver turned himself into police two days later.
A 24-year-old Red Deer man has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision causing bodily harm.
He is set to appear in provincial court on Nov. 29.
