Occasional showers over the weekend were a welcome sight in Alberta but many farmers say it isn’t enough to stave off what could be the worst drought in a decade in this province.

GLEICHEN — Occasional showers over the weekend were a welcome sight in Alberta but many farmers say it isn’t enough to stave off what could be the worst drought in a decade in this province.

The drought extends between Calgary and Edmonton as far east as the Saskatchewan boundary.

Over the next few weeks, the amount of rain is critical for crops before the heat of mid-July sets in.
