Drugs and weapons seized in Samson home search

A search of a residence on the Samson First Nation on Monday yielded a small quantity of drugs and weapons.

A search of a residence on the Samson First Nation on Monday yielded a small quantity of drugs and weapons.

At about 6 p.m., Maskwachees RCMP, with the assistance of Wetaskiwin RCMP Police Dog Services, executed the search, seizing a quantity of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1,100.

The search also turned up weapons.

Police arrested and charged Shawn Simon, 31, of the Samson First Nation with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Simon is to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on Thursday.

An arrest warrant has also been issued for Allen Wade Simon, 29, of the Samson First Nation, who is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
