Darryl Laplante and Pete Vandermeer also scored for the Eagles, who led 5-0 after the first period and 6-1 after 40 minutes. Richard Kelly, Ryan Smith and Brett Holmberg accounted for the Chiefs goals.

Winning goalie Jonathan Larose made 31 saves, while Jim Watt and Blake Grenier combined to stop 31 shots at the other end.

Watt made 26 saves for the visitors. James Reid and starter and loser Travis Yonkman teamed up to block 13 shots.
