Practicing his cross-bow draw, Jonathon Bloch guides his canoe along with his paddling partner Jan Wahlers into an eddy at the Great West Adventure Park boat launch on Wednesday afternoon. The two Grade 11 Hunting Hills High School students along with their classmates and their teacher Doug Sather were doing laps on the boat launch, working on getting to shore safely in the fast-moving water. The physical Education 20 students will be hitting the Red Deer River next Tuesday for a day-long paddle from the bridge west of Penhold back to Red Deer.
