Edmonton-area man becomes Alberta’s seventh victim of swine flu virus

Health officials says the latest person to die from swine flu in Alberta was an elderly man from the Edmonton area.

EDMONTON — Health officials says the latest person to die from swine flu in Alberta was an elderly man from the Edmonton area.

Dr. Gerry Predy, the province’s senior medical officer, won’t say whether the man had underlying health issues.

But Predy points out that’s typically the case in deaths involving the H1N1 virus.

The previous six victims in Alberta have been women.

The number of deaths associated with the swine flu virus in Canada now stands at 66.
