Edmonton police have arrested a suspect in the city’s 29th homicide of the year.

EDMONTON — Edmonton police have arrested a suspect in the city’s 29th homicide of the year.

Last Friday, Ahmed Ismail-Sheikh, 25, was found near death on a city street and later died in hospital.

Arab Mursal Sugule, 22, is charged with second-degree murder, assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon.

Police say the two men knew each other.

The homicide is the latest in on-going violence within Edmonton’s small Somali community.

Earlier this year the Somali community put out a poster with the names of 12 people of Somali-decent who have been killed in the city in recent years.
