Environment Canada lifts flood watches on several rivers

Flooding has closed 350 campsites in the Jasper area just days before the July long weekend.

CALGARY — Flooding has closed 350 campsites in the Jasper area just days before the July long weekend.

The Jasper National Park website says the Snaring campground and overflow site are closed, as are the hiking trails into backcountry camping at Jacques and Beaver Lakes.

Some picnic sites and roads are also flooded.

Alberta Environment has lifted flood watches that were in effect for a pair of rivers south of Calgary.

But high streamflow advisories remain on the Highwood and Sheep rivers.

The advisories are also in effect for the Bow River in and around Calgary, as well as for the Oldman River downstream of Lethbridge and the South Saskatchewan River in Medicine Hat.
