ERT called to complaint of distraught man

Charges are pending against a 26-year-old city man after police responded to a complaint of an intoxicated man in a Red Deer residence where there were believed to be firearms.

Charges are pending against a 26-year-old city man after police responded to a complaint of an intoxicated man in a Red Deer residence where there were believed to be firearms.

The RCMP emergency response team was called on Thursday at 11:10 p.m. about an emotionally distraught man who was intoxicated and had access to firearms.

ERT negotiators and the Red Deer City RCMP and crisis team made contact with the suspect, who voluntarily left the Fairview residence.

The man was taken into custody without incident. Police seized two firearms from the residence.
