Red Deer RCMP have issued a warning about a man and woman trying to peddle fake gold jewelry in parking lots.
Police have received seven reports in the last few weeks.
Police say the scammers will tell victims that they are down on their luck and need to sell the jewelry in order to get back home.
In several incidents, victims report that the suspects were accompanied by a child. They were also driving a rental vehicle.
In past years, the fraudsters were would steal the victims’ jewelry after aggressively putting on the fake jewelry on the victims.
