Falling object kills young girl

An air ambulance official says a three-year-old girl is dead after she was struck by a falling object near Gibbons, north of Edmonton.

GIBBONS — An air ambulance official says a three-year-old girl is dead after she was struck by a falling object near Gibbons, north of Edmonton.

STARS spokesman Cameron Heke said the girl was injured Sunday afternoon in a residential yard.

The air ambulance helicopter landed just west of Gibbons on Highway 28. It’s crew worked with ground crews to provide the young child with emergency medical care.

However, the crew was told by an emergency physician to suspend efforts to resuscitate the young girl.

She was then pronounced dead.

Heke said emergency workers did everything they could to help her.

“I know that those responded on scene worked very hard and they would’ve done everything they could at that time,” Heke said.
