MORINVILLE — An elderly Alberta farmer has been rescued after spending a shivering 22 hours stuck in his combine upside down.

Len Nobert says his neighbour, 83-year-old Ray Como, slipped early Friday afternoon and got wedged head-first between the combine’s grain tank and the motor at his farm near Morinville, north of Edmonton.

He wasn’t discovered until his son-in-law went to check on him Saturday morning.

It took crews over an hour to free Como.

He was flown to University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton by helicopter.

Como’s cousin, Frank Comeau, says he believes he will recover but notes he “isn’t out of the woods yet.”
