ANDREW — Fire crews in a small town northeast of Edmonton made a gruesome discovery on the weekend when they extinguished a car fire and found a body inside.

Two Hills RCMP received a call about 9 p.m. Sunday that a vehicle was trespassing on private property in a rural area north of Andrew, about 100 km northeast of Edmonton.

Officers went to the scene and found a vehicle in flames.

Lamont EMS and the Andrew fire department rushed to the fire, but it wasn’t until after the flames were extinguished that crews found a body inside.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still trying to identify the victim and continue to investigate.

RCMP say the death is not being treated as suspicious.
