Firefighters respond to three fires, arson suspected

The first fire, at 12:26 a.m., was in a house under construction on Viscount Drive in Vanier Woods.

A commissionaire at the scene reported the fire and saw four individuals fleeing the scene.

Flames could be seen through the windows of the main floor.

Red Deer Emergency Services workers were able to gain entry and knock down the flames quickly to limit the damage to that floor.

At 12:47 a.m., RCMP reported another fire at a house under construction at 27 Vincent Cres. about half a block from the earlier fire.

A pile of debris and tarps was on fire in front of the residence and firefighters brought it under control quickly with no damage to the house.

At 1:46 a.m., firefighters responded to a jerry can with gasoline burning on a baseball diamond at G. W. Smith School in on Springfield Avenue in Sunnybrook.
