Flasher on the loose in Red Deer

City RCMP are hunting for a middle-aged man who exposed himself to several girls Thursday morning.

City RCMP are hunting for a middle-aged man who exposed himself to several girls Thursday morning.

Const. Sabrina Grunow said Friday the man stopped his pickup truck in an alley near 42nd Avenue and 59th Street blocking several female youths.

He then jumped out of his truck and exposed himself to them.

The culprit was last seen leaving the area heading north on 59th Street following the 9:58 a.m. incident.

Police were unsuccessful in locating the suspect or his vehicle.

As a precautionary measure several area schools performed administrative lock downs for part of the morning, Grunow said.

Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School, River Glen School and Camille J. Lerouge School are in the Waskasoo area where the incident occurred.

Grunow said victims and witnesses provided further descriptions of the male and the vehicle to police.

The suspect is described as between 40-50 years old.

He is slightly balding with light coloured hair.

He is shorter than 1.83 metres (six feet) and wore a faded light red or tan shirt.

The truck is described as a newer model maroon Ford 350 pickup with a silver coloured bush bar in the front.

Grunow said police can’t confirm that the incident is related to other recently reported suspicious persons complaints received within the last two weeks including a person showing up at school grounds talking to students.

Grunow requests that anyone with information is urged to telephone police at 403-343-5575 or 1-800-222-8477.
