CALGARY — The lawyer for a former Calgary police officer accused of molesting a young girl says he needs more documents from the Crown.

The case of Stephen Lawrence Huggett was in court Thursday.

Huggett’s lawyer, Alain Heppner, said he has just been retained and his office wants to review the paperwork before deciding what type of trial his client should choose.

Huggett hasn’t yet entered a plea.

He is charged with sexual touching and sexual interference against a child under 14.

The allegations stem from encounters in the 1990s that allegedly involved a seven-year-old girl.

Huggett was sentenced to nine months in jail for possession of child pornography in 2009.
