Former Edmonton police officer charged with assault with weapon in 2006 attack

A former member of Edmonton’s police service has been charged with assault with a weapon.

EDMONTON — A former member of Edmonton’s police service has been charged with assault with a weapon.

Rodney Wadden is to appear in court Nov. 5.

The information was released by Clifton Purvis of the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, which was asked to review the case.

Purvis says Wadden was arrested at a house and charged after an assault on Oct 25, 2006.

Purvis didn’t discuss details of the alleged assault because the case is before the courts.

Wadden was a member of the police force at the time of his arrest.
