Former Red Deer RCMP officer charged with obstruction

A charge of obstruction of justice has been laid against an RCMP officer who was formerly posted in Red Deer.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team announced on Tuesday that it has laid the charge against Sgt. Richard Graydon in relation to testimony he gave at a civil trial in Edmonton in September 2010.

Graydon was testifying during in a lawsuit in relation to his duties as a police officer, said Clif Purvis, executive director of the incident response team.

He could provide few other details, except to stat that Graydon, a 23-year RCMP veteran, is to make his first court appearance in Edmonton on Friday, Jan. 13.
