CARROT RIVER, Sask. — Four men are in custody after two Mounties were shot at while responding to a call on a reserve northeast of Saskatoon.

The incident started when officers from Carrot River were called to the Red Earth First Nation and came across a small group of people walking along the street.

RCMP say the officers approached the group in a marked police vehicle when they were shot at and the front windshield shattered.

The officers shot back and a standoff followed that lasted for several hours until the four men, who are 18 or 19-years-old, surrendered to police.

There’s no indication that anyone was hurt and no charges have yet been laid.

The shooting comes less than a week after a violent mob attacked two RCMP at a hospital in La Loche (lah-LOSH’) in northwestern Saskatchewan and torched a police truck.
