Fourth AHS board member resigns

Another member of the Alberta Health Services board of directors has resigned.

EDMONTON — Another member of the Alberta Health Services board of directors has resigned.

Sources say Dr. Andreas Laupacis (law-pack-is) tendered his resignation to Alberta Health Minister Gene Zwozdesky.

He is the fourth member of the board to resign since former CEO Stephen Duckett was let go last week.

Officials with Alberta Health Services and the Alberta government were not immediately available for comment.

Laupacis is an executive at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and was a former member of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research.

Last week Tony Franceschini (FRAN-chess-shee-nee), Gord Bontje (BON-chee) and Linda Hohol all stepped down from the board to protest Duckett’s removal from the job.
