Central Albertans are invited to help the family of a Red Deer boy recovering at home following a major ski crash.

A fundraiser for Jordan Fraser will be held on Saturday, April 28, at the Red Deer Titans Rugby Club, starting at 6 p.m.

Fraser, 11, suffered numerous injuries after taking a fast tumble in the terrain park at Red Deer area’s Canyon Ski and Recreation Area on Feb. 4.

There’s no cost or tickets necessary to get into the event.

Guests can have beef on a bun and pop for $4. A live and silent auction will get underway at 7 p.m.

Troy Gibb, one of the organizers, said the auction items include golf passes to various courses including at Innisfail and Lacombe, as well as River Bend Golf and Recreation Area. The assistant professional at River Bend is also auctioning the chance for people to have a golf lesson with him.

Other items include an oil change at Fountain Tire, an iPod and an Edmonton Oilers-signed jersey.

“There’s about 30 items for the live and silent auction,” Gibb said.

The event will conclude about 9 p.m.

Money raised will go towards future costs in Fraser’s recovery, including transportation costs to Calgary as he undergoes more surgeries, as well as a special wheelchair and upgrades to the family home.

Gibb said the boy, a family friend of his, is expected to be in a wheelchair for six to eight months.
