The Bentley Generals ran their Chinook Hockey League front-running record to 10-0-0-0 with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs Saturday.
Sean Robertson, with the eventual winner, Paul Cabana and Scott Doucet scored for the Generals, who led 2-1 after one period and 3-1 after 40 minutes. Chris Giacobbo and Alex Aldred replied for the Chiefs, while David Tetrault made 27 saves.
Bentley goaltender Tim Haun stopped 17 shots.
Meanwhile, the Innisfail Eagles got a 46-save performance from Evan Miller and four goals from Clark Lowry in a 7-5 upset win over the host Stony Plain Eagles.
Jeffery Clazie sniped a pair of goals for the Eagles, who were winless heading into the contest, while Taylor Fleming scored once. Barrett Coates blocked 15 shots for Stony Plain, while Nathan Ward had two goals in a losing cause.
Innisfail turned in an even better effort at home Friday while falling 4-3 to Stony Plain. Lowry, Fleming and Scott Murphy sniped the Innisfail goals and Miller made 27 saves.
Brandt Middleton scored twice for the visitors, while Cody Rudkowsky stopped 28 shots.
In Friday’s other game, the Sylvan Lake Admirals got goals from Justin Schmidt and Matt Lamirande in a 4-2 loss to visiting Fort Saskatchewan. Jordan Ramstead made 40 saves for the Admirals.
Tetrault faced 32 shots in the Chiefs net. Aaron Agnew potted the eventual winning goal.
