Generals, Admirals each win pair

The Admirals upended the host Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs 7-5 Saturday, 24 hours after defeating the visiting Carstairs Redhawks 7-4.

Cody Esposito tallied twice against the Chiefs, while Rob Turville, Kurtis Ross, D.J. Brough, Ike Hanna and Lucas Isley also scored for the Admirals who fired 23 shots at Fort Saskatchewan goaltenders Blake Grenier and Derek Yeomans. Jordan McLaughlin excelled in the Sylvan Lake net with 40 saves.

Against Carstairs, Jeff Young potted a pair of goals and Luke Boyer, Jon Grecu, Ernie Stewart, Brian Pieper and Brett Yeo also connected. McLaughlin made 26 saves as the Admirals enjoyed a 44-30 advantage in shots.

Bentley got two-goal efforts from Chris Falloon and Curtis Austring in a 10-2 romp over the host Redhawks Saturday night. Donald Morrison, Colin McRae, Darryl LaPlante, Scott Doucet, Sean Robertson and Brett Robertson also scored for the Generals.

Travis Yonkman blocked 24 shots for the win. Carstairs goaltender Kyle Seidel made 49 saves.

The Generals also knocked off visiting Fort Saskatchewan 4-2 Friday as LaPlante, Morrison, Falloon and Jason Lundmark connected. Yonkman made 32 saves while Grenier blocked 33 shots for the Chiefs.

Meanwhile, the Innisfail Eagles were swept by the visiting Lloydminster Border Kings in a two-game weekend set.

Daryl Blais and Ryan Kellis scored for the Eagles in a 7-2 loss in front of 125 fans Sunday. Wade Waters stopped 15 shots for Innisfail and Lloydminster netminder Kris Westblom made 18 saves.

On Saturday, the visitors got out to a 2-0 first-period lead and never looked back en route to a 4-0 win. Jody Lehman stopped 12 shots for the shutout while Evan Miller made 29 saves for Innisfail.
