Generals sweep weekend games

The Bentley Generals swept both of their Chinook Hockey League games on the weekend, beating the Ft. Saskatchewan Chiefs on Saturday and the Okotoks Oilers 10-2 on Sunday.

In Saturday’s win in Fort Saskatchewan, Cam Maclise scored twice for the Generals while Giffen Nyren and Kyle Sheen had one goal and two assists each. Jade Galbraith, Kyle Bailey and Keenan Desmet chipped in with a goal each. Dustin Butler made 30 saves for the win.

In their win on Sunday on Bentley, Maclise had two goals and four assists while Torrie Dyck added two goals and one assist. Nyren, Bailey, Desmet, Sheen, Chance Lund and Brett Robertson scored singles. Travis Yonkmand made 31 saves in the win.

The Generals host the Chiefs on Friday at 8:30 p.m. and then are in Okotoks on Saturday at 8 p.m.

• The Innisfail Eagles dropped a barn burner to the Drillers on Friday in Innisfail, falling 7-5.

Mike Wirll scored three goals for the Eagles while Pete Vandermeer and Ty Clay scored once each. Steven Stanford allowed all seven goals on 29 shots.

The Eagles have a home-and-home series with the Stony Plain Eagles this weekend, in Innisfail at 8:30 p.m. and then in Stony Plain on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
