Lots of kids threaten to run off and join the circus, but 14-year-old Emily Munro is actually doing it.
Next month, the talented young Canmore gymnast will fly to Montreal after being handpicked to attend a summer program at the National Circus School, where Cirque du Soleil trains its performers.
“I always thought Cirque was really cool — I saw some of their shows and thought, ‘I would like to do that stuff and improve my abilities,’ ” said Emily, who has been involved in gymnastics since she was five years old and now trains 14 hours a week.
