Grandson testifies Alberta grandmother confessed to fatally shooting her husband

The grandson of a woman accused of fatally shooting her husband has testified that she confessed to the crime.

EDMONTON — The grandson of a woman accused of fatally shooting her husband has testified that she confessed to the crime.

Anne Semenovich, 74, is charged with first-degree murder in the death Alex Semenovich, whose remains were found in an incinerator west of Edmonton in 2008.

Brian Semenovich testified today about how his grandmother told him that she had “shot grandpa.”

He said when he challenged her about her statement, she replied, ’no, I shot him.’“

In previous testimony Brian Semenovich said his grandfather had a history of abusing his grandmother, including chasing her with a big kitchen knife.

He also testified that he gave his grandmother a loaded shotgun, telling her to use it if his grandfather came at her when he wasn’t around.
