Grizzlys advance to AJHL quarter-final

The Olds Grizzllys are off to the second round of the Alberta Junior Hockey League playoffs. Brandon Thiessen stopped 35 shots as the Grizzlys downed the Calgary Mustangs 4-1 Tuesday to win their best-of-five South Division quarter-final 3-1.

Brandon Thiessen stopped 35 shots as the Grizzlys downed the Calgary Mustangs 4-1 Tuesday to win their best-of-five South Division quarter-final 3-1.

Bart Moran (power play) and Chase Paylor scored unanswered first-period goals for the Grizzlys before 637 fans at the Sports Complex. Simon Skrudland notched a power-play marker for the Mustangs in the second stanza, but Mitch Owsley replied for Olds before the period ended and Tanner Dunkle sealed the deal with a man-advantage tally midway through the third period.
