Grizzlys down 3-0 in series

The Brooks Bandits got third-period goals from Dakota Mason and Anthony Paskaruk and defeated the Olds Grizzlys 4-2 Monday to grab a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven AJHL South Division final.

The Grizzlys, on goals by Chase Paylor and Brandon Clowes (power play) led 2-1 after one period before 723 fans. Andy Williams countered for Brooks with the lone goal of the middle frame, setting the stage for the winning and insurance goals in the third period.

Chris Muscoby scored a first-period man-advantage marker for the Bandits, who got a 33-save performance from Jan Obernesser. Jesse Ehnisz stopped 42 shots for the Grizzlys.

Game 4 goes tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Sports Complex.

The South winner will meet either the Spruce Grove Saints or Fort McMurray Oil Barons in the league fianl. The Saints’ lead in the North Division final was cut to 2-1 Monday when the host Oil Barons struck for two third-period goals for a 3-2 win.
