The Central Alberta High School Football League season opened Thursday with a pair of one-sided contests.

The Central Alberta High School Football League season opened Thursday with a pair of one-sided contests.

The Notre Dame Cougars rolled into Wetaskiwin and ripped the Sabres 46-7 and the visiting Stettler Wildcats clawed the Camrose Trojans 34-14.

At Wetaskiwin, the Cougars got touchdowns from seven players, including quarterback Kieran Pruden.

Also scoring majors were Myles Corsiatto, Jordan Briault, Luc Laplante, Dusty Fowler, Max Sotnikow and Jordan Schaeber.

“There was a lot of mistakes made with it being the first game of the year, but our guys put out a good effort,” said Cougars head coach Gino Castellan.

“Considering we didn’t know what we were going up against, I’m satisfied.

“There’s a couple of holes we have to fill and if we can do that I think we’ll have a good year.”

Details from the Camrose-Stettler game were unavailable.

In today’s games, the Lindsay Thurber Raiders will be in Sylvan Lake to face the H.J. Cody Lakers and the Rocky Mountain House West Central Rebels will take on the host Lacombe Rams.

Both games will start at 4:30 p.m.
