Hobbema RCMP investigating suspicious death

Hobbema RCMP are investigating a suspicious death, after a 36-year-old man was injured at a residence on the Ermineskin First Nation and later died.Police and emergency medical services responded to a call during the early morning hours of Friday.

Hobbema RCMP are investigating a suspicious death, after a 36-year-old man was injured at a residence on the Ermineskin First Nation and later died.

Police and emergency medical services responded to a call during the early morning hours of Friday.

The call was in relation to a family dispute on the reserve.

When police and emergency medical services personnel arrived, they found an injured man on site.

He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Hobbema RCMP said a youth from the Hobbema community has been taken into police custody in relation to the incident.

An autopsy will be performed at the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police have said that no other information concerning the victim or the youth taken into custody will be released at this time.

The investigation continues with help from the RCMP major crimes unit, the general investigation section and the forensic identification section.
