Should voters choose to include him on the next Red Deer Catholic Regional School Division board, Murray Hollman would like to talk about inclusion within the division.

And he would like to get others talking about inclusion as well.

“We’re all for inclusion, it’s just in how it’s being developed and how we can streamline that, get more of the parties involved, get the teachers more informed on the resources that are out there to help them out,” said Hollman.

“There’s a lot of people working for the same thing, they just need to all talk together.”

Hollman said he has already met with school principals, the Alberta Teachers’ Association, and CARE to talk about inclusive education within the Catholic system.

While the concept pertains to students with developmental disabilities and those for whom English is not a native tongue, Hollman said the Catholic division also has to improve the opportunities it provides to gifted students through Advanced Placement courses.

He also cited the need for a new high school in Red Deer and a Catholic school for fast-growing Blackfalds as issues he would like to see tackled by the new board.

At 27 and running for the first time, Hollman is the youngest candidate for the Catholic board.

Hollman and his wife have one infant child with another expected in the spring.

A quality manager at CMR Fabricators in Red Deer, Hollman said his talents and work ethic would serve the board well.

“I’m an organized individual. I’m very driven.

“I come from the quality industries with the oilpatch, so I’m very detailed.

Lots of details, procedures and policies doesn’t scare me,” he said.

Hollman said he feels a calling to serve the local division, having been very involved with the Catholic church for many years.

Along with his wife, Hollman handles registration duties for Red Deer Engaged Encounter marriage preparation courses.

Also running for the Catholic board are David Bouchard, Adriana LaGrange, Cory Litzenberger, Guy Pelletier, Brandie Towers and Anne Marie Watson.
