House fire in Anders causes $20,000 damage, Wednesday

A house fire in Anders that started in an outdoor wooden planter box caused $20,000 in damage on Wednesday night.

A house fire in Anders that started in an outdoor wooden planter box caused $20,000 in damage on Wednesday night.

Red Deer Emergency Services responded to the fire at 33 Allsop Dr. after a passerby called 911 at about 8 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire remains undetermined but started in the planter before spreading to the house through the east exterior wall and into the floor joists located between the basement and main floor.

The house had smoke and fire damage.
