EDMONTON — The Alberta Human Rights Commission has a new director.

Philippe Rabot has served in Ottawa on the pension and old-age security review tribunal.

A release from commission head Blair Mason says Rabot is an expert in labour and administrative law, disciplinary issues and copyright.

Four part-time commissioners have also been added.

The Alberta government has been reviewing the commission’s mandate.

Culture Minister Lindsay Blackett, the minister responsible, has said it may be better for it to deal with employment complaints rather than hatred or contempt issues, which make up only four per cent of all cases.
