Hunting Hills Lightning take doubleheader against Ponoka Broncs

The Hunting Hills Lightning took both ends of a Central Alberta High School Basketball League doubleheader against the visiting Ponoka Broncs Tuesday, winning the girls’ contest 46-23 and the boys’ game 68-52.

Teighan Ponto had 13 points and Carly Kolesnik 12 for the Hunting Hills girls.

Meanwhile the Camrose Trojans won both games against the host Lindsay Thurber Raiders.

The Trojans won the girls’ game 63-42 as Jesalyn Clarkson had 14 points Emilie Kerr 12 and Christie Pilger 10. Jenna Stone had 12 and Amy Whitesell nine for LTCHS.

In the boys’ game, the Trojans won 97-81 as Connor Foreman hit 28 points, Nathan Saby 16 and Miles Derry 15.

Jonah Penner had 42 and Spencer Klassen 23 in a losing cause.

In other girls’ action the Lacombe Rams beat the Stettler Wildcats 59-23 as Kirstin Ramsay dropped in 21 points and Alana Eli 10. Mykayla Sorensen had eight points for Stettler.

Meanwhile in Wetaskiwin the Notre Dame Cougars lost 56-30 in girls’ play and 76-71 in boys’ action.

Maddie Quinn had 15 points for the Notre Dame girls and Mike Malin 22 for the boys.
