Alberta Transportation has reopened a section of highway that had flooded following heavy rainfalls late Monday night.

Hwy 766, which runs north and south through Eckville, was closed between Hwys 12 and 53 after water started rushing across the roadway at a couple of different sites. There are still some areas where there is water on the road or lapping at its edges, but motorists are advised that it is safe to travel, provided they use caution, says Lynden Fischer, operations services co-ordinator for Alberta Transportation’s regional office in Red Deer.

So far, Lynden has not received any reports of damage to the road surface.
