Innisfail RCMP are looking for answers after a black Labrador retriever was shot and wounded last week.

Cpl. A.J. Mand said the dog was found limping in the family yard near Township Road 350 on Oct. 15. Family members assumed the pooch was hit by a car. The dog was taken to a veterinarian, who confirmed the dog was shot at least once.

“We don’t know what happened,” said Mand. “We believe it was a shotgun.”

Mand said they have little information to go on and they are seeking the public’s help in locating the shooter.

The dog is recovering at home with its owners.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-3342.
