Innisfail reconsiders moving waste transfer site

Residents of an Innisfail trailer court may have been handed a reprieve as the town has reconsidered a decision to move the waste transfer site closer to the residential neighbourhood.

Residents of an Innisfail trailer court may have been handed a reprieve as the town has reconsidered a decision to move the waste transfer site closer to the residential neighbourhood.

The town planned to move its dump to green space it owned adjacent to the Westwood Court Mobile Home Park, but they were met with opposition from residents of the trailer park.

The trailer park is located just east of the intersection of 42nd Street and 57th Avenue in Innisfail.

Last week, a press release from the town said it would reconsider the plan after presentations and expressions of concern about putting a waste transfer site at the location.

A review is now underway and the town will look to include a third option for the location of the waste transfer site.

A review could take eight to 10 weeks to complete. The results of the review will be presented at a public forum and residents will have the chance for input before a final decision is made.
